Jargon Buster "DPI"

DPI - Dots Per Inch

The term dpi stands for "dots per inch." It is a standardized way of describing a printing device's ability to show resolution (or precision) by stating the number of dots per square inch the printer can produce when outputting graphics (art). A 600 dpi printer can print 600 dots in one square inch of paper. The higher the dpi, the better the resolution and the better the print quality.
