epages was founded in 1987 as DART Software GmbH by Wilfried Beeck in Kiel, Germany. Between 1989 and 1995, DART was a European distributor of NeXT Software Inc.
At the beginning of the Nineties the first web browser prototypes were developed on the NeXT platform at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland. Shortly thereafter, DART conceived the first web-based applications.
In 1992, together with Stephan Schambach and Karsten Schneider, Beeck created Intershop Communications GmbH, which focused on developments for this new area of business.
At the beginning of 2002, Beeck left the Board of Intershop to pursue new challenges. Since then he has focused his efforts, once again, on developing e-commerce solutions for small to mid-sized businesses with DART, which was recently re-named "epages Software GmbH".
In order to accomplish this goal, epages has acquired the distribution rights for the "Intershop 4" product family from Intershop and also took over the team that was engaged with the development, support, consulting and marketing of the product line.
The headquarters for epages are located in Hamburg, Germany. There are also offices in Jena, in addition to plans to establish other offices throughout Germany. The Company will soon be present in all of the major European markets through its own direct presence and through partnerships with associated companies. An active and professional presence in Asia/Pacific and in North America will be ensured by distributors.
