The CYBER DRIVE Technology Corporation was founded 1994 in Taipei and developed to one of the leading manufacturers of optical storage devices in Taiwan. To cope with the market requirements also with regard to the geographical aspect, CYBER DRIVE established strategically located branches. Consequently, the CYBER DRIVE Technology Europe GmbH has taken over all operations throughout Europe and the Middle East since 1st July 1997.

In 1997, CYBER DRIVE reached sales of totally 3.5 million units world-wide. As CD-ROM drives have been established as a standard PC component, this figure could be more than doubled to 7.5 million drives in 1998. In 1999, CYBER DRIVE Technology Europe sold 3.5 million drives solely on the European market, world-wide the group could sell 10 million devices. This development shows clearly that CYBER DRIVE’s products have developed as a synonym for proven quality and reliability in our customers’ mind.

To cope with current and future demands, CYBER DRIVE established in 1998 a plant in South China which was the largest factory for optical storage devices at that time with a capacity of more than two million drives per month.
